On a more serious note, as we move forward I would like to remind everyone of the importance of building security. It's easy to go through the day-to-day rounds and forget some very important spaces within a property. A Building Maintenance System employee is always security conscious by keeping all mechanical rooms, telephone rooms, electric rooms, fire pump rooms, fire control rooms and engineers offices locked.

Getting more of a bang for your buck! "Proof that environmentally friendly buildings can boost bottom lines."
The Bethesda-based CoStar Group discovered significant research in regards to buildings going green. After running comparisons on tens of thousands of buildings the information found was published in the March 21-27, 2008.
For your convenience we have included highlights from the article:
Office buildings certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and given the Energy Star Designations by the EPA, were able to charge higher rents, had higher occupancy rates and negotiated higher sale prices than their non-green counterparts of similar geography, size, class and ages, both nationally and regionally.
CoStar also found that owners nationwide pocketed $61 more per square foot when selling Energy Star buildings and $171 more when selling LEED buildings.
Non-green buildings will soon be absolute as the demand for green buildings are increasing.
As of now CoStar counts 19 LEED and 44 Energy Star office buildings n the region today, less than 1 percent of the area's total 9,400 office buildings.
